Nissan Versa (N17): Expansion valve

Nissan Versa 2nd generation (N17) Service Manual / Ventilation, heater & air conditioner / Heater & air conditioning system (HA) / Expansion valve

Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Perform oil return operation before each refrigeration system disassembly. However, if a large amount of refrigerant or oil is detected, do not perform oil return operation. Refer to HA "Perform Oil Return Operation".

REMOVAL

  • Use refrigerant collecting equipment (for HFC-134a) to discharge the refrigerant. Refer to HA "Recycle Refrigerant".
  • Disconnect low-pressure flexible hose from expansion valve. Refer to HA "Removal and Installation".
  • Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to EM "Removal and Installation".
  • Disconnect high-pressure pipe from expansion valve. Refer to HA "Removal and Installation".
  • Remove the bolts and the expansion valve.

CAUTION: Cap or wrap the joint of the evaporator and expansion valve with suitable material such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:

  • Do not reuse O-rings.
  • Apply A/C oil to the O-rings of the low-pressure flexible hose and high-pressure pipe for installation.
  • After charging A/C refrigerant, check for leaks. Refer to HA "Leak Test".

LIQUID TANK

Removal and Installation of Liquid Tank

The liquid tank is only serviced as part of the condenser and liquid tank assembly. Refer to HA "Removal and Installation".
