Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal. Refer to PG, "Removal and Installation".
  2. Remove air duct (inlet). Refer to EM, "Removal and Installation".
  3. Remove "S" terminal nut and "S" terminal harness.
  4. Remove "B" terminal nut and "B" terminal harness.
  5. Remove oil filter. Refer to LU, "Removal and Installation".
  6. Remove starter motor bolts.
  7. Remove starter motor from underneath the vehicle.

CAUTION: Be careful to not damage surrounding parts when removing starter motor from the vehicle.

STARTER MOTOR / REMOVAL

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:

  • Be careful to tighten starter bolts, "S" terminal nut and "B" terminal nut to the specified torque.
  • Install oil filter. Refer to LU, "Removal and Installation".
  • Clean battery terminals and battery cables to remove corrosion prior to connecting.
  • Ensure the battery cables are tightened to the specified torque.

NOTE: Reset electronic systems as necessary.
