Nissan Versa (N17): Position switch

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

  1. Drain gear oil. Refer to TM, "Draining".
  2. Disconnect the harness connector (A) from position switch.
  3. Remove position switch from transaxle case.

REMOVAL

INSTALLATION

  1. Apply recommended sealant to threads of position switch.

            CAUTION:

  • Use Genuine Silicone RTV or equivalent. Refer to GI, "Recommended Chemical Products and Sealants".
  • Remove old sealant and oil adhering to threads.
  1. Install position switch to transaxle case.
  2. Tighten position switch to the specified torque. Refer to TM, "Exploded View".
  3. Refill gear oil. Refer to TM, "Refilling".

Inspection

INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION

  • Check continuity between position switch terminals. Refer to TM, "BACK-UP LAMP SWITCH : Component Inspection" (Back-up lamp switch) and TM, "PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH : Component Inspection" (PNP switch).
  • Check the oil level and for oil leakage. Refer to TM, "Inspection".
